The Links course at La Hacienda Links Golf Resort is celebrating new international acclaim after being voted as one of Spain’s best golf courses by users of one of Europe’s most respected industry websites.
The par-72 layout, which reopened to widespread praise in July 2022 after undergoing a major redesign by American architect Kurtis Bowman, was named tenth in the Best Golf Courses in Spain’ category in Leading Courses’ updated ‘Golfers’ Choice Awards 2024’.
The Links course moved up no less than 22 places in the latest rankings (decided by reviews from the Leading Courses community) while, in a further boost for La Hacienda, the up-and-coming resort climbed 29 places to 30th position in the ‘Best Golf Clubs in Spain’ rankings.
The Leading Courses honour is the latest to be bestowed on the Links course after it was named as ‘Spain’s Best Golf Course’ at the 2023 World Golf Awards and is further reward for La Hacienda’s decision to invest significantly in its golf and leisure facilities.
As part of the major transformation project to reconfigure and redesign the Links layout, Bowman was appointed to improve the hole layouts, conditioning, scenery and sustainability outcomes. Work undertaken included the remodelling of all tees, greens complexes and bunkers, and the redesign of several holes.
In addition, other upgrades taking place at La Hacienda have included the renovation of its other 18-hole championship course, the Heathland, the opening of a newly refurbished clubhouse and the launch of a new halfway house as part of its transformation into one of the top 36-hole golf venues in Europe.
